The Ukrainian Carpathians possess a considerable recreational potential. Despite this, the modern economic-industrial orientation of the region consists in the extensive use of local resources. The worked out scientifically orientated model of the mountain communities sustainable development envisages the ecologically orientated economy reorganization of the Ukrainian Carpathians in regard to the tourism-recreational industry development. The reasonable alternative of tourism and recreation in the mountain regions does not exist.

For the last decades, the ecological tourism is being actively developed and advocated all over the world. The Carpathian biosphere reserve, owing to its natural peculiarities, and also functional zoning of its territory, represents the best conditions just for the development of this type of recreation.
